About
“I knew the color of what I wanted to do but not the shape.”
The Leap
After leaving Jamaica at 17 for an Ivy-League education at Cornell University, Conniel looked back at her Mother at Normal Manley International Airport in Jamaica, smiled, waved, took the leap and never looked back. Her intellectual prowess and commitment to public service led her to be a Rhode Scholar Runner-Up, graduate cum laude from Cornell University and become an Equal Justice America Fellow while at the University of Virginia School of Law.
The Landing
Conniel’s first job out of law school was to land a rare in-house corporate law role at a Fortune 100 company based in Pennsylvania. For a decade, honed her skills as a negotiator, legal expert, compliance & mergers and acquisitions specialist. Just when she was starting to feel unfulfilled in the corporate legal world, she was handpicked to create and lead a non-profit.
The Lead
Handpicked to build & lead a nonprofit focused on corporate accountability and strong legal systems from scratch, Conniel quickly “upskilled” herself on the basics of nonprofit management, building people culture, the world of philanthropy/ managing donor advised funds and environmental and human rights advocacy. Almost ten years later, Conniel is a seasoned nonprofit founder, environmental rights advocate and leader in the philanthropic, business & human rights and corporate accountability space.
The Legacy
Having built an organization and executed a unique philanthropic vision in the world of business & human rights, Conniel has has expanded her horizons and spheres of impact. In addition to her continuing human and environmental rights work. She is a relationship-builder, a skilled communicator, a charismatic speaker and leader.
